It’s easy to take all the work that truck drivers do for granted. Hop on the highway at any time of year, any hour of the day, and you’re bound to encounter some commercial trucks transporting goods from one place to another. Truckers are constantly working to make sure things get to where they need, hugely important to our economy as well as our daily lives.
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is the special time of year when we recognize truck drivers across the country for everything they do. We’re smack in the middle of NTDAW, which began on September 13 and ends this Saturday, September 19. There are over 3 million men and women with trucks on the road, and this is the week to recognize and honor every one of them.
Social media websites like Facebook and Twitter are sure to be filled with messages of thanks, possibly bearing a hashtag like #NTDAW15 or #DriverAppreciationWeek. Trucking companies are encouraged to celebrate in their own way, whether it is an award ceremony, a company party, or a simple message of gratitude.
Trade group American Trucking Association started NTDAW back in 1988. It’s part of a larger movement called Trucking Moves America Forward, designed to raise awareness and appreciation for truck drivers with the general public. Fellow drivers are encouraged to see truck drivers as indispensable friends and fellow travelers.
To learn more about this special week, visit Trucking.org, and keep an eye out for promotional campaigns and advertisements throughout the week. In the meantime, let us know of any special plans you have to celebrate. Here at Platinum Drivers, we know that while there may be millions of truck drivers, they are the lifeblood of our transportation economy, we need every last one of them.
