Did you know there are currently some 3.5 million professional truck drivers nationwide? And did you also know that 80% of U.S. communities rely solely on truckers delivering goods?
Thank You, Truck Drivers!
“Thank you, drivers. Without you, America stops.” That’s a line that the Minnesota Trucking Association includes on its website. It’s true for trucking associations, truckers and society in general all over the country– if truckers decided to strike, American businesses wouldn’t be able to function and the country, as a whole, would literally stop being as economically robust as it is. Think about it– store shelves would empty out, you’d have a hard time getting gas for your vehicle, etc.
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is September 15-21 this year. This annual celebration honors professional truck drivers and is a time to show both appreciation and support for the work they do. Whether you know a trucker or don’t, realize this: the economy depends on them. Therefore, if you see a trucker and want to say thanks, the week of September 15-21, 2024 is a good time to do so. Maybe give them a handshake or high-five and say, “I appreciate what you do for a living.”
What are some other nice things you can do to show truckers you appreciate them during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week?
- Give them gift cards for essentials.
- Pick up their tab at a truck stop.
- Buy them a meal.
- Email their company and offer compliments and kudos.
- Post on social media with the hashtag #thankatrucker.
- Have a kid draw/color a card or picture for the trucker in their life.
Where would we be without truckers? The country would be in shambles! Therefore, take some time to appreciate truckers you come across, especially during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week this September 15-21.
